Text: Genesis 8:22
“While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease” — Genesis 8:22 (KJV)
“For as long as Earth lasts, planting and harvest, cold and heat, Summer and winter, day and night will never stop.” — Genesis 8:22 (MSG)
Introduction
The God we serve is a covenant-keeping God. Reading through the Bible, you see that God keeps His covenant with His people from generation to generation. He cannot fail.
“No, I will not break my covenant; I will not take back a single word I said. I have sworn an oath to David, and in my holiness I cannot lie: His dynasty will go on forever; his kingdom will endure as the sun. It will be as eternal as the moon, my faithful witness in the sky!” — Psalms 89:34-37 (NLT)
Anytime He makes a covenant with anyone, you will see that He keeps His own bargain.
In Genesis 6:18, He entered into a covenant with Noah, and He has sustained that covenant to this day. The rainbow we see today is a reminder from God that He is still keeping that covenant.
In Genesis 22:17-18, God established a covenant with Abraham that in blessing He would bless him, and through his seed, all the families of the earth would be blessed. This covenant still exists today.
With David, God established an everlasting covenant that the seed of David shall not cease to be rulers in the land of Israel. God kept His promises despite the unimaginable things the descendants of David have done.
“I will be his father, and he will be my son. If he sins, I will correct and discipline him with the rod, like any father would do. But my favor will not be taken from him as I took it from Saul, whom I removed from your sight. Your house and your kingdom will continue before me for all time, and your throne will be secure forever.” — 2 Samuel 7:14-19 (NLT)
Jeremiah 33:20-21 says, “Thus saith the LORD, If ye can break my covenant of the day, and my covenant of the night, and there should not be day and night in their season; Then may also my covenant be broken with David my servant, that he should not have a son to reign upon his throne; and with the Levites the priests, my ministers.”
It is not possible for the day not to break and the night not to come. That is how much God values His covenant with His people.
Has He spoken anything to you that has been pending? Do not lose hope; just be steadfast in your service to Him. God will not fail you.
God still keeps covenant with individuals, families, communities, organizations, and nations up to now.
Has He spoken something about you and it is still pending? Remember that God is a covenant-keeping God.
The Covenant of Seed Time and Harvest
A covenant God keeps, which is evident all around us, is the covenant of seed time and harvest. Without a seed, there can never be a harvest.
After the flood, when God smelled the sacrifice that Noah made, He was so moved that He decided not to destroy the world with water again. He went ahead to pour out His blessings on the earth as contained in Genesis 8:22: “While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.”
Sow good seeds so that your hands will not be empty at harvest. This covenant is replicated in many Bible verses. It is better to start sowing early. This year has begun and will soon come to an end. What are you sowing? Everything you do, whether good or bad, is a form of sowing. You must be conscious of what you are doing.
Luke 6:38 says, “Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.” Without giving, you cannot receive. The more you give, the more you receive. Many people are ignorant in this area. Some people deny God of their tithes and are not faithful with their offerings. For some, when they want to give people things, they give them poor materials, things they cannot even use.
Galatians 6:7-9 says, “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”
Many people are moving unconsciously, forgetting that the sowing has begun already and that at the end of the day, the day of accountability shall come. Be careful of what and how you sow your seed.
Psalm 126:5-6 says, “They that sow in tears shall reap in joy. He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.”
Sometimes sowing times are not always pleasant. But when you sow, you are surely coming back with blessings.
Make up your mind this year to sow to God and in the lives of people. Each time God gives you the opportunity to bring your seed, He is looking for an avenue to bless you. God can do without us. Whatsoever you sow is what you reap. You cannot sow a mango seed and expect to reap oranges later! Are you sowing hatred, laziness, disobedience, unfaithfulness? There is an account opened for you, and you will give account soon or later.
The quality or quantity of what you sow determines the quantity or quality of your harvest. At this juncture, everyone must take time to think seriously about what he/she is sowing because the harvest is always more than the seed. Be careful and watchful of what you are sowing so that you will not regret it later.
You have the opportunity to change what you are sowing this year so that you and your unborn generation will not face the repercussions (Galatians 6:7). Change the quantity and quality of your seed.
Proverbs 17:13 says, “Whoso rewardeth evil for good, evil shall not depart from his house.”
Are you in the class of people who pay evil as a reward to those who have done you good? Please change! Reward evil with good.
Matthew 5:6 says, “Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.” No wonder Joseph walked in righteousness and saw God, and even his master testified that God was with Joseph (Genesis 39:3). Regardless of your situation, sow the seed of righteousness.
Know for sure that your seed cannot be lost. It is what you sow that you will reap. That is the truth and fact of the matter.
Ecclesiastes 11:1 says, “Cast thy bread upon the waters: for thou shalt find it after many days.”
That sounds foolish, but remember that the foolishness of God is better than the wisdom of men.
God cannot fail you; He is too faithful to fail, especially when you keep your part of the deal. A farmer goes to sow a seed of maize. After some days, the seed will get rotten and die. Sometime later, the seed begins to sprout and produce many branches that have hundreds of seeds.
Many believers are not conscious that whatever we do from the beginning of the year is a form of sowing. The more the quality of what you sow, the more assurance you have of the quality of your harvest.
Brethren, if you are sowing “rice,” sustain it; your harvest is guaranteed if you do not faint (Galatians 6:9). If you faint, there will be no harvest. Any farmer that eats the harvest and the seed will not have the seed to sow again.
This year, buckle up. Are you a worker in the house of God? Sow obedience. Make it a habit to always take notes down in church.
Be determined. There must be a new version of you; there must be a new beginning in your life.
Many believers, each time there is a need in church, turn their deaf ears. Why are you folding the hands of God from blessing you? The Lord is the rewarder of people accordingly. Do you take care of other people’s children? Your children can never suffer lack.
Are you committed to the things of God? God will surely be committed to your affairs.
The covenant of seed time and harvest is as real as night and day. Have you been sowing in holiness and are being scorned? Are you sowing in righteousness and people are mocking you?
Have you been sowing in prayers, studying the word of God, fellowshipping with the brethren, sowing financially, and in spiritual exercises such as fasting, praising God, praying, and winning souls for God?
Please, SUSTAIN IT because in due time, you will reap your harvest and it will be envied by many.
Walk in the consciousness of sowing good seeds.
If you haven’t started, please start now; it is not too late.
God will certainly wipe away the tears of people this year. Don’t stop doing it, and you will have a testimony such as Apostle Paul in Galatians 2:20.
“My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” — Galatians 2:20 (NLT)
If you have been sowing in sin, desist from that.
You can hide from anybody, but you cannot hide from yourself and God.
The covenant of seed time and harvest is real, and very soon, God will pay you in your own coin.
However, there is an opportunity to change that seed of sin now and begin to sow the seed of holiness and righteousness. Repent! You cannot afford to joke with God; these are terrible and perilous times.
Each time you want to sow something and do a great thing for God, the devil comes to discourage you, attempting to stop or reduce it. Don’t allow it; the devil is trying to keep you from that height God wants you to get to.
For some people, the major reason why you are in negative situations right now is because of the seed your parents have sown. You are partaking of the consequences of their actions. Tap into mercy and be free from it by prayers.
“God continued, ‘This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and everything living around you and everyone living after you. I’m putting my rainbow in the clouds, a sign of the covenant between me and the Earth. From now on, when I form a cloud over the Earth and the rainbow appears in the cloud, I’ll remember my covenant between me and you and everything living, that never again will floodwaters destroy all life. When the rainbow appears in the cloud, I’ll see it and remember the eternal covenant between God and everything living, every last living creature on Earth.’ And God said, ‘This is the sign of the covenant that I’ve set up between me and everything living on the Earth.'” — Genesis 9:12-17 (MSG)
1 Samuel 1:21 says, “The next year Elkanah and his family went on their annual trip to offer a sacrifice to the Lord and to keep his vow.” — 1 Samuel 1:21 (NLT)
- One covenant trigger for a supernatural blessing is the altar of sacrifice.
- A sacrifice is anything you choose to part with at a cost.
- The altar of sacrifice is the altar of turnaround.
Psalm 126:5-6 says, “Those who plant in tears will harvest with shouts of joy. They weep as they go to plant their seed, but they sing as they return with the harvest.” — Psalms 126:5-6 (NLT)
- The altar of vows and the altar of sacrifice come up at Shiloh.
- Sacrifice can provoke a sworn blessing that will speak for generations.
- God stopped the plague on Israel at the altar of sacrifice (2 Samuel 24:15-16).
- The Shiloh altar of sacrifice is to the Lord, and He will answer (Psalm 50:5-6).
- Supernatural wisdom is released from the altar of sacrifice.
No circumstance will dislodge you from making the move that will advance you!
Your command will be unquestionable!

“God blessed Noah and his sons: He said, ‘Prosper! Reproduce! Fill the Earth! Every living creature—birds, animals, fish—will fall under your spell and be afraid of you. You’re responsible for them. All living creatures are yours for food; just as I gave you the plants, now I give you everything else. Except for meat with its lifeblood still in it—don’t eat that.'” — Genesis 9:1-4 (MSG)
